5 Ways Wacoal Supports Ethically Made Lingerie

Consciously created for a sustainable future.

You won’t find any fast fashion here. When you choose Wacoal, you get more than just lingerie. You become part of an ongoing, ever-evolving mission to help the environment and our beloved workers across the globe. To date, we’ve invested millions of dollars in our sustainability efforts, and we are only part way on our journey with much more to come. We’re 100% committed to promoting social responsibility, encouraging mutual respect, and making sustainability a mainstay from start to finish. You can always count on us to deliver long-lasting, size-inclusive bra’drobe essentials of the highest quality.

IMPACT FOCUSED

As members of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), we believe ensuring a sustainable future requires a collective effort. Wacoal will contribute to and learn from SAC’s suite of sustainability measurement tools—known as the HIGG Index—to drive environmental and social responsibility throughout the supply chain.

MINDFULLY MADE

Want to be a more conscious consumer? Consider intimates that are built better to last longer. Aim to invest in ethically made lingerie that remains in excellent condition for as long as possible. At Wacoal, we prioritize quality, timelessness, and responsible manufacturing practices without fail to bring you styles you’ll love to wear and pair.

BYE-BYE PLASTIC

Starting in spring 2022, we’re doing away with plastic hangers and non-recyclable plastic bags for all direct-to-consumer orders. Instead, be on the lookout for recyclable bags made from 100% recycled materials. We’ll soon begin rolling out sustainable tags and care labels too!

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Through our company-wide efforts, we have donated thousands of pounds of fabrics, materials, and supplies to various organizations, and we have recycled thousands of pounds of plastic, cardboard, and paper. Additionally, we consciously disposed of all unwanted electronics—keeping approximately 1,500 pounds of e-waste out of landfills. In the past three years, we also significantly decreased our overall energy consumption by installing solar panels in our New Jersey facility and reducing hardware usage by 73 percent.

PEOPLE FIRST

It’s no secret that our commitment to women extends beyond the design studio. As a proud partner of Susan G. Komen® for more than 20 years, we’ve donated over $6 million (and counting) to breast cancer initiatives through Fit for the Cure®, Bras with a Cause, and other efforts. In 2019, we introduced the b.tempt’d Buy a Bra, Give a Bra program in partnership with Delivering Good—donating over 65,000 new bras to women in need to date. As an ethical lingerie brand, our philanthropic efforts and commitment to helping others extend to disaster relief as well including those affected by Hurricane Ida in Florida and the earthquake in Haiti.
